I learnt about the 100strangers project from Phil @phil_howcroft who is following it on Flickr and 365. I felt I couldn't commit to another photographic website (not looking for a divorce!!!) so I am creating my project just on 365.
There are some really interesting ideas on portraiture on Flickr and one I like is the triptych portrait effect. So I've tried to do something a bit similar here.
I believe the Flickr rules are one portrait for each subject but not being bound by them, this is my collage portrait of Rob. 'Regular' portrait here:
I think you can learn loads from others on whatever site you look at...I love the portrait challenge you & Phil are doing up personally I like just the face! That's only me but this does give you an old round profile of Rob & his job.
I like this collage, it gives you an idea of what he does for a living.
I wonder how many 'people' shots I have taken now since I started 365. I don't post their story though which is quite interesting.
Thanks, Babs, I wasn't too sure about this. There are some excellent collages on Fickr but I think the right subject is really important - shall have another try with a different portrait later.
thanks for the name check haze, I clicked your flickriver link WOW , I missed that.
The flickr group and other portrait groups are indeed inspiring. I've had some gentle advice on their from some very experienced portrait shooters. After 50 mono portraits I am finding colour a little challenging. A couple of people have suggested I up the contrast more on my shots , which I might try. As for the the triptych portrait effect it is pretty cool and your variation works well here
Yes, WOW indeed - awe inspiring! Great to have such examples on Flickr for inspiration. I think a good triptych portrait needs a subject with great detail/shape/texture in every part of the anatomy (so to speak!) So clever - I'll keep trying. Have found a way of doing it by slicing into 3 horizontally and then using the square CD format on Picasa 3 collage effect.
I think the colour in a portrait often comes from the background? As you probably realise, I love colour. I WILL try a mono portrait sometime soon. I love those b&w too.

Thank you both for the feedback. There are some awesome portrait shots and collages on Flickr - inspirational even!
