bergenia aka elephants' ears

It's a beautiful sunny day here. I went to the shed to fetch a pot for a cyclamen a friend brought us and saw the sun shining through these flowers and leaves near the stream.

Back to the house for the camera. These bergenias came originally from my parents' garden. And then I realised today is the 30th anniversary of my mother's death.

She and my dad were staying with us over New Year. It was a sudden traumatic event resulting in my worst bipolar episode. It was Ray who kept life from falling apart for our family until I was back on my feet nearly 2 years later.

Online I found that these plants are native to central Asia and their flowering time is April - more confusion in the garden!
Lovely sunlight on these - Fav
