'lady-hares'

On a visit to Salisbury Cathedral today we enjoyed seeing Sophie Ryder's sculptures.

This bronze, in the cathedral grounds, is called 'Dancing Ladies'. I haven't yet discovered why Sophie portrays ladies as hares, albeit elegant ones.
Has the look of something from Alice in Wonderland Hazel!

I googled the artist, saw many very unusual sculptures. Don't know wether I like them or not.

She models them on her family, Hazel. The scultpures are wonderful - sadly one was blown over and damaged beyond repair in Storm Katie

@gijsje I think you have to see them in real life and in their stunning setting of the cathedral grounds to appreciate them. I wasn't sure before I went to see them either. Hazel has a lovely photo here

Lovely shot, they're very elegant ☺

I think the fact that they have hares' heads adds an element of softness to the stone and maybe there is madness in there too with the ring-a-ring-a-rosy dance. Wonderful image capture.

Now this is different. Not sure about the mix of hares and ladies though.
