This artist was painting the avenue of trees leading to the cathedral entrance and I determined to ask for a portrait if he was still there when I came out.
A few photos, a cup of coffee and a salmon and cream cheese sandwich later, I found he was indeed still painting but also realised that it was Don who features in my strangers' portrait no.31. http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2016-01-14
We had a nice chat anyway and I am now finding that meeting up with previous subjects is increasingly happening to me.
And I decided to take his photo again, anyway.
When I took Don's strangers' portrait he was inside the cathedral in January wearing his duffle coat and the painting he was engaged upon was of the west window of the cathedral and, to me at least, quite a different style of work from the bolder style of the painting you see here.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Nice to meet up with folk again. What a lovely place to sit and paint. I quite like his piece here. You've chosen such a good angle to include everything in your photo.
i remember don in his duffle haze.
I see a few people at the football who i photographed as part of my 50 mono portraits at 50mm project, but I will not redo them for my stranger :)
nice shot recording the day and the meet
Babs, thanks for jogging my mind - did mean to include it and have done so now!
Not sure but I think he does sell his paintings.

I agree that I would feel it was cheating not to stick to the strangers' 'rules'!
