A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
I prefer the cropped version but I think the robin would look better just left of centre. A nature photographer friend of mine once said that you should always crop animals and birds etc with somewhere for them to walk or fly into.
Yes, I also learnt that from Colin who takes our photography group. But somehow when I crop the centre of a shot, I always do a square! Will bear it in mind next time!
p.s. Looking back he does have a very small space to fly into! I was also conscious of the bush of mauve rhododendron whose colour was a bit intrusive.....
depends what the main focus is. If bird - then crop - (it is very clear and well taken). If you want to focus on where it is then this one
Personally, I like the crop better
Pat, you made me think to check the settings on the EXIF here and I am surprised that I had the macro lens (30mm) on the camera. (Was expecting to shoot flowers.) As I'm always saying, I love my Sony a6000 which maintains incredible detail at a good distance!
@quietpurplehaze haze, i have a couple of FB friends who are fairly active but I thin one of them has done one fairly recently. I will try to ask someone but like yourself I am a little wary of putting people on the spot :)
@quietpurplehaze Know what you mean about the bush, I saw that too, but if you had photoshop you could clone out the purple. Both versions are good though. I like the crop and also in this version the robin has somewhere to go, so both have advantages.

Thank you. I think I felt I wanted to show the good detail my camera can capture at a distance.

Well done, Phil - I'm always careful who I ask about such challenges as I know what it's like to feel put on the spot.

Is there somebody you can ask to carry on the challenge?!
I can clone with FastStone - but sometimes it's all too much trouble!!!!!
