A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
So beautiful, Hazel. I was a child of 8 when I learned about Dutch elm disease, and it decimated the trees on our 12-block long street lined with these. I'm glad to see one here and hope they'll make a comeback.
It's such a shame our Ekm trees are thin on the ground now, it's a beautiful tree.
I have a poem on the fireplace which tells us what wood burns best for a fire. Not much praise for the elm tree!
Elm trees burn like graveyard mould,
E'an the very flames are cold.
Can't remember having seen elm tree blossoms earlier, although I know street in a nearby village with elm trees on both sides. Will have a look there, one of these days...

Never heard that, thank you, Pat! Luckily we have a gas fire!
Bep it was a while before I realised that this was blossom, not leaves.
