Brother John and 'The Book' by quietpurplehaze

Brother John and 'The Book'

I find that 'The Book' trips off the tongue more easily than 'Till We Meet Again: Gunner Bert Martin: 1941-45'.

On this day in 1942, my dad had been a PoW for just one month. He wrote:

"On Tuesday 21st July, all our particulars were taken, names, numbers etc. We were told that this information was to be forwarded to Rome where it would be broadcast to England. I cannot yet say if my people received my name as I have had no mail."

My photo of Brother John was taken in the Master's garden of the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty. He is one of 25 Brothers who live there.
I can see emotion in this shot... must be great for your family to read your Dad's words ...

I am sure he will enjoy the book. I am halfway through reading it. a bit slow at the moment because the only chance I get to read right now is when I go to bed and before too long I fade to black.

Lovely capture of Brother John in the garden. I have finished your excellent book Hazel and passed it on to my son-in-law.
