Love these. I remember seeing them in the Botanic Gardens in Kandy. They came hurling through the air to roost and hung in the trees like badly furled umberellas. Irresistible! Thank you for reviving a memory for me.
Had to giggle as I read the comments for this photo. I love nature, but bats are on my "hate" list. Ha ha! They just make me cringe. Great photo, though! ;)
It certainly seems that we love bats, or love to hate them. This was flying freely above our heads at Bristol Zoo and I nearly got a shot with it in flight. This shot was with 24X zoom and then cropped off, of course. I was surprised when I did a bit of processing to see what colours came out, as the original shot just looked like a black bat!
That's interesting, thank you - have run out of time on hols this week to look up German!
