In 1902, Ontario built a railway through Northern Ontario, legend has it that a blacksmith working on the railway threw his hammer at a fox. He missed the fox and the hammer chipped some rock and exposed a silver vein. Cobalt became the biggest silver mining camp in the world.
As well, in 1910 Cobalt joined the upstart National Hockey Association, later to become the NHL.
Thanks for dropping by.........hope your having a great weekend!
I like your composition and the old fashioned railway station building with its reflection in the melted snow. I also like the train's bright golden yellow against the blue sky. Thanks also for the history, both legendary and actual. If the story about the blacksmith is true, I'm glad the fox was not hit by the hammer.
