@ksyu These are not real eggs - they are man-made. If a hen has an egg in the nest, she will lay more eggs. If a person collects the eggs and the hen stops laying, one of these nest eggs is put in the nest (or wherever the hen lays her eggs) and it will fool her into laying more eggs. Different chickens and other fowl do have different colored eggs and I don't know why that is? Maybe through time it was a means for the mother hen to know which of the eggs are her? I'll have to look that up. It's an interesting question.
@ksyu No way! No chickens. My husband bought them at an antique store because he liked them and thought they were interesting. I am not a farmer. I looked up the different color eggs - no real answer except it might have to do with what kind of nest the bird lays them in and the color helps to camouflage them. Apparently only birds in captivity lay white eggs.
