Fast Shutter Speeds by randystreat

Fast Shutter Speeds

Tried this challenge on the windmill in my backyard which was going at a considerable pace this afternoon. I did increase the exposure, the same amount for both, since they were shot RAW and not very bright. I can see little difference in the two photos. They both stopped the motion. I should probably shoot this again and go to a slower shutter speed. What do you think?
Love windmills. Fav and follow.

Good job!

I think it's a good experiment and impressive that it stopped the motion, yet for a windmill, I like to see a little blur. Otherwise, a viewer would not know that it was not just at rest.

Well done. You did it! I should try a challenge but haven't got there yet!

There definitely appears to be a slight more crispness to the blades of the lower photo. These challenges are sure good for learning things about our cameras, aren't they.

Nice captures and details.
If you slow the shutter speed you will get a nice blur on the movement while keeping everything else in focus. Or take the f/down to as low as you can and that would give you a nice DOF as well as blur of movement. Don't know if that helps, I find its best to play until it looks right.

@weebindi2 @barbtatum @cejaanderson @sparrowphotography @lyndemc @craftymeg Thank you for the support and the tips. I'm following the camera settings challenge and going back to learn more about my camera. I, too, prefer the blurred blades and have read up and shot a few like that. This was for the challenge.
@weebindi2 Thanks Helen. Following you too.
