Playing with the camera in Manual changing the ISO and shutter speed. (I'm behind on the camera setting challenge #6. This one is ISO 6400, shutter speed 1/6 sec, f/18, focal length 40 mm. It was interesting to see the change in the shutter speeds as the ISO was increased.
The higher ISO has added a grain to this image that almost looks like a texture's been added. Always interesting to see what you get with the various settings on your camera, huh.
@lyndemc Thank you for viewing and commenting. I appreciate the feedback. I see what you mean Denise. I think my eye has been pulled to the light and I didn't examine the darker area as closely. Obviously this was a study in ISO and I probably wouldn't shoot at this ISO much. I've found my camera doesn't do very well in lower lighting. The photos I take are always grainy.
Nice shot Kathy. If your flowers are inside out of the wind with no movement cut your ISO back to 1 or 200.this will reduce noise from your photo (grain). You would have to be on a tripod as your shutter speed would be a lot slower.
@randystreat No, it's always good to try these settings out. I myself am trying to change my way of thinking about higher ISOs and to use them more often. It's better to have the picture in focus and well lit, even if it means a little graininess. I think this picture's pretty even with the grains!
@mzzhope Thank you. @peterlgrave Peter, I am following the camera settings challenge on high ISO. Ordinarily, I probably wouldn't have used such a high ISO. @lyndemc Thanks Denise. It was suggested to me in the discussion that I might use the in camera High ISO Noise reduction setting. I have tried this today for comparison. Haven't posted yet though.
