The Lake District is a busy place all year round, it's just has some busier times than others! As most of the roads around the lakes are narrow it can be a slow process, parking is at a premium at peak season and the problem of just stopping to catch a view can be very hazardous at times. Most of the roads that run around the mountain sides are narrow with a sheer drop of hundreds of feet with only a tiny stone wall for safety. The beauty of the place is breathtaking and it really does still my heart and soul, I've never been to anywhere that quite compares in this country but there again I am just a little bit biased!!

@craftymeg Thank you. I did a little research and found there is a national park in the Lake District. Is this part of it?
