A few months back a 365 friend ( @olivetreeann) very kindly sent me an "egg" of Silly Putty after she posted a photo of it. I reminisced that I always thought it was cool and never got any. It caught my eye the other day so I thought it would be a good subject for a photo, an "S" photo. I had the Sunday paper sitting there and remembered how it picked up the print from the comics so well. Well, I don't think it did as good a job. Is the the comic page that changed or the Silly Putty? But nonetheless, Garfiled is very visible eating doughnuts and putting on the Covid pounds.
What a generous gift from @olivetreeann. I think the newsprint is different. It used to be alcohol based and now is soy based I think. The alcohol is what made newspaper great for cleaning windows once too bu not so much anymore since the ink is not the same.
This is a very creative photo!
Wow, this stuff is still around? @jamibann very different to play dough , I can't tell you how many decades since I first met this as it would give away my great age! But I was very little.
I'm so glad you had fun playing with it! Katy is probably right- the printing and ink is most likely different. But this was bright yellow too- so that may have altered it as well. Still a good shot!
@jamibann Silly putty is laytex based and is more like the putty you'd use to caulk an airy spot in a window or something like that. Playdough is clay based and is more for shaping and molding something like an arts and crafts project. Silly putty does not hold its shape for long.
@kjarn Until Ann ( @olivetreeann) posted her photo, I thought it was one of those things from my past that was long gone. @ziggy77 Thanks Jo. @serendypyty Thank you. It actually did come out well in the photo, but pretty faint compared to how I remembered it from my childhood. @summerfield Thank you Vikki. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry. @wakelys Thanks Susan. Something that would impress a kid, I guess. Glad that there are still childish things that impress me as an old adult. @carolmactx You might just have to get some and play with it now. @grammyn Thanks Katy. I didn't realize that about the inks in the paper. That may very well be the reason the transfer isn't as good now. @jamibann Thank you Issi. Here, Play Dough is something different. It's thicker and more "clay" like than this. @pusspup I'll bet it's been at least as many as you or more for me. Wylie. My earliest memory was when I was in elementary school. @craftymeg Yes indeed. We should never give up that childish talent. We would get so stuffy and boring if we did. @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian. @olivetreeann Thank you twice Ann. Once for the silly putty and once for the view and comments.
@jb030958 Both you and the putty have changed you mean? Probably so. I'm happy to bring back some good memories. @thewatersphotos Thanks Gary. Glad it brought back some good memories for you.
Every photo has two realities. The pic. as the photographer see it and the storie behind.it.
