Looking for something light to eat tonight. I had one serving of baked beans and I had bread. I remember seeing that the Brits liked beans on toast (even the Queen enjoyed this). Could they be wrong? Well actually it was tasty, but the toast - maybe not necessary. Will this become one of my go-to meals? Time will tell.
Kathy, I too have heard of “beans & toast” in the UK (I read too many British murder mysteries) and always thought it sounded good, but have never tried it. I would use baked beans also, but I see @kali66 has provided different info. I have to fav this; it gave me a smile to read you had the same thought. (Great minds think alike) :)
I have seen others here on 365 post this as a meal. It always looks tasty, but I can't say I'm compelled to try it either. I know it would taste good but it doesn't call out to me- oh well!
I had no idea this was your photo until I pulled it up on my feed. I felt certain it came from the UK posters. Your composition for this one is fabulous. Based on what @wakelys Showed us I feel like our pork and beans would be a closer match to their meal. Since I like both kinds of beans I feel either one would be a hit with me.
Here in the UK it’s a go to quick meal, although ours are white haricot beans in tomato sauce not barlotti beans. Must say there are not many people who do not partake!
I quite like them with grated cheese on top.
I found this discussion interesting and amusing. I think that Katy's right, the usual beans are not "Boston style" baked beans but more what we call pork and beans. Issi, I like cheese toast and sometimes have it for breakfast too. Thank you for humoring me with the fun discussion.
