My partner this week challenged me to do a text portrait. The process was pretty straight forth, using the tutorial she provided. I used a photo of my husband, taken several years ago as the starting point. Compared to the photo in the tutorial, I think that my photo did not have enough contrast, given that Gene had gray hair, a gray beard and a pale complexion. All in all, I am satisfied with it.
I really like this way to do a portrait. It's easy enough to build up the contrast on his face and head in a photo program- you only highlight him and leave the contrast off the rest- if you feel like playing around with it. He has a warm inviting smile- even in black and white with an effect added!
I can't thank you all enough for your warm and kind comments not only on my image, but about my husband. Thank you for the tips Ann, but I will probably not try this again with that photo. The text is my own for what book or text would have been written especially about him.
