It has most of the qualities one looks for in a watermelon. @haskar This one had most of the hallmarks of a ripe watermelon: a yellow spot where it had been lying in the garden while ripening, a brown dried stem. I thought it would be great when I cut it and it was such a deep red. I guess I didn't thump to hear the hollow sound, so maybe that's why it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.
