Today we made a special visit to the cemetery to pay tribute to my father, my father-in-law, and two uncles who were all veterans of WWII. My husband and I were joined by my daughter and her boyfriend, a Marine who has done multiple tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. We brought armloads of flowers, distributing them to relatives and many others we did not even know. It surprised me that instead of being a downer, the whole experience was quite uplifting. As we were leaving, the sun was setting behind a tree and I caught it just before it dipped out of sight. This posting is dedicated to all the brave men and women who have fought to keep us safe and free.
