The man can still put over a song and he has his original rockin backup band! He closed his concert Saturday night with a 13-minute rendition of "American Pie", originally recorded and released in 1971. Now I'm dating myself!
The song is a recounting of "The Day the Music Died" — the 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry Richardson, Jr.).
In trying to improve my photo skills, I'm attempting to expand beyond the beach and sunset scenes that I tend to shoot. I'm concentrating more on people shots this month and I'm not very good at them yet. Lighting is my biggest challenge, along with just getting them in focus. I'm not a hundred percent pleased with the results but one of my main goals with this project is to have a pictorial calendar of what goes on in my life so I can look back, smile and remember each day. Otherwise, it's all a blur.
this is a great shot, elizabeth. when he came to manila in the early 80's we had front row tickets to his concert. he still looks great. i wonder if he's going to come to canada. i won't hesitate to get front row tickets again! thanks for this.
you are doing so well. I like the way that you are challenging yourself. People's shots are a lot harder but it is also rewarding, I am looking forward to see more of them.
Brings back memories. I just loved him so much in my youth. Saw him a couple of years ago in concert and like you say, he can still sing! Wonderful capture of him!
