I took this exactly a month ago in New York near Ground Zero and thought it was fitting to post it today as a salute to the men and women who risk their lives everyday to save ours. Wild fires are currently raging in many places in Southern California. Homes have been lost and roads are closed. It took my husband 3 hours one way to drive to work because of road closures. I'm hoping the fire crews will be able to contain and put out all the fires very soon.
What a lovely tribute. And we have so many first responders on duty locally -- from all over -- around here this week because of the fires. Gotta love 'em for risking their lives for the rest of us. So sad to see so many homes, etc. burned. Three hours to drive to work? Oh my GOSH!! We decided to go to our local Costco this afternoon, and it was closed..... as are a lot of businesses. Too many employees living in the fire areas and have other things than work on their minds..
This is a very moving image...thank you for sharing it with us, especially today and especially with all the fires going on near you! Hope you are not in harms way? Be safe.
What a brilliant tribute to the men currently fighting the fires in southern Cal. It looks quite frightening -- we've been following the news even while in France (wonders of internet). This is an excellent capture of the monument as well.
