David Livingstone is thought to have been the first European to view Victoria Falls in 1855. He named the falls in honor of Queen Victoria but the indigenous name, "The Smoke that Thunders" is commonly used. It's combined width and length make it the largest waterfall in the world. It is twice the height of Niagara Falls.
During the rainy season, it is a continuous curtain of falling water with mist that rises 1300 feet in the air. This shot was taken in mid-Oct. which is the dry season. During this time, more than half of the rocky face of the falls is revealed and the bottom of the gorge is visible along its length.
It has been on my list of places to visit for years....I have never seen a shot of it with so little water. I guess nobody else goes there in the fall. lol. beautiful and a fav
