Grand Canyon of the Pacific by redy4et

Grand Canyon of the Pacific

That's the nickname Mark Twain gave to Waimea Canyon on the western side of Kauai. From various lookout points, you can take in panoramic view of the interior of the island. The canyon is 14 miles long, a mile wide and 3,600 feet deep, carved by
floods and rivers over thousands of years. It was raining and cloudy when we first arrived but later in the afternoon, the clouds parted in a few sections of the sky, allowing the light to filter through, highlighting the red soil and lush greenery.
Amazing that this canyon is in Hawaii. Wonderful capture.
