Silver Slippers by redy4et

Silver Slippers

Part of the practice of making a Buddhist shrine a sacred space is to leave ordinary activities, thoughts (and foot coverings) outside before entering a temple. The idea is leave distractions of the outside world with your shoes. Taking our shoes on and off multiple times a day became the norm as we traveled throughout Burma. Here, there were dozens of pairs of silvery flip flops, neatly lined up at the entrance to a monastery.
Well spotted. I love all the repeating shapes and the subject is so representative of the area.

A creative shot -- the background design works perfectly to balance the shoes and the curves and dangles are reminiscent of the shoe's design.
