Yesterday was a sad day in our little beach community. We woke up to sound of sirens and emergency vehicles, saw smoke billowing from our historic walking pier and turned on TV to see the restaurant at the end of the pier completely engulfed in flames. It took a couple hours for more than 70 firefighters and fire boats to battle the smoke and flames. The restaurant, which had been closed for several years, collapsed in a heap of wood and ash. This has been our favorite place for our daily walk for many years and now it will be closed for the entire summer and perhaps for quite some time while repairs are made.
that's a lot of smoke... :o( ...sorry to hear your news...very sad time for the local community...hope rebuilding gets underway sooner than later...will be interesting to see its progress over time...
wow this is a great shot of the smoke... it is sad to lose part of your community... we are dealing with horrible forest fires in our province over the last few weeks, engulfing communities and people having to evacuate... scary and devastating.
