The curving reddish trunks of these Pacific Madrone trees always attract my attention. When the bark peels in summer, it reveals a smooth lime green surface underneath. The trees can grow up to 80 feet and are found all along Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. This is definitely my favorite tree!
