Big Sur is a rugged stretch of the central coast of California. The 2-lane highway is known for its winding turns and jaw-dropping views of the Pacific Ocean. It was closed for more than a year after landslides in 2017 damaged portions of the road.
We were driving to a wedding near San Francisco so we took the opportunity to drive north, top down, on the now open Highway 1. The weather gods provided clear, sunny skies in an area that's often shrouded in fog. It was a deliciously wild ride!
The cloud shaping gives it such life and depth too. I can see the road bridge in the distance over the cliff gorge. A thrilling road to drive - so glad you had a sunny day.
