After viewing the nesting herons high in the trees during my visit to the wetlands, I walked back down the path and there a few feet from the chain link fence was this beautiful heron. I was surprised the bird didn't fly away when I approached but I guess the fence created a sense of safety. We each stood our ground and then I continued on my way, leaving the heron still standing in the same spot. It was unique because usually the birds move or take off before I can click the shutter.
