The oddball of the Kingfisher family, the Kookaburra doesn't eat fish. It's known as a Laughing Kookaburra but I've never heard it's raucous laughter. They say they're most vocal at sunrise and sunset. I guess I'd have to get up much earlier.
An Aussie icon :) I hope he has plenty of room to fly around in the reserve. Their "laugh" is amazing to hear - I hope you get to hear it - we have them in the wild here down under!
