Some of the architectural features of Casa Batllo were inspired by the Mediterranean Sea. Looking through the wavy glass at the landings on each floor from the central staircase, I felt as though I was diving in the ocean. The colors of the tiles deepened in intensity as I climbed to the top. The upper tiles are a darker blue, designed by Gaudi to help distribute the light to the different floors through the central shaft.
