Amazing Artichoke by rensala

Amazing Artichoke

What a glorious day it was in London again. I lunched with a friend at a lovely Turkish restaurant just off Carnaby Street called Zahter. Their signature dish is this semi stuffed artichoke with a spiced rice, nuts and all manner of delightful goodies. We finished with a sublime baklava. What else can I say!
That looks quite an amazing creation!

Glorious shot. Fav. In Malta we do cook globe artichokes similar to these, stuffed but not this much. We eat them with fresh tomatoes, broad beans and some tuna with fresh olive oil. They are delicious and are one of the favourite dishes of my wife when they are in season.

@sangwann this sounds so delicious - we will try! I usually just boil them up and eat with a mustard vinaigrette, one of my favourite light lunches

I love artichokes, and Turkish food. I must try this recipe!

I wanted to comment on this photo on the day that I saw it but time flies. I had artichokes on the same day. You've captured a lovely portrait and the plate looks delicious. @sangwann as Dione said this is a common dish in Malta. The way we cook it is by leaving the leaves whole.

@elza snap! And agreed re time flying. It’s very difficult to keep up, but enjoyable no Ethelred’s. I’ve never seen artichoke leaves cut like this, or stuffed for that matter. I look forward to eating the Maltese artichoke one day.
