The many well-preserved, colourfully painted bay windows provide an insight into the history of the city. In addition to better light, the bay windows above all allowed the possibility to see who was at the door. They were never built directly above the entrance door, but instead always slightly offset. As a result, residents could already spot unwanted guests from afar and avoid them in an elegant manner when necessary😉
"What light in yonder window breaks" I like the colors in this window and am puzzled that there is light in only one of the two windows visible in the bay window.
