Victoria (master of science in economics) was my student in math-econ (fall 2009) and I have been her academic advisor for two years. Dasha (master of science in professional media and media management studies) has been Clare's graduate assistant for 2½ years. Victoria is from Russia and Dasha is from Ukraine and they might not otherwise have met except that an economics professor and an assistant dean know each other and introduced them. :) We think it's been a mutually-beneficial friendship that has formed.
So what's next? Victoria is moving on to an econ Ph.D. program elsewhere. Dasha was married in January and now begins a new career in the private sector. We are sad to see them go, but this is what happens when you work with bright, mature and talented graduate students: they graduate! Besides, it's simply their time to go to the next phases of their lives. We hope we have prepared them for their next leaps and we wish them every success! Besides, we're never more than an email away!

@exposure4u It's fun to photograph happy people. They have both relocated, but this is what happens. Relocations and moving-on comes with the territory of working with smart and talented students! @michelleyoung I love my job. Well, most every day. ;)
@digitalrn Thanks, Rick! I cannot fathom what my international students do, especially the international graduate students: they go to a foreign country where the language isn't their native language and they study a technical discipline at the highest level. I tip my hat to them!
