This guy in my study window reminds me of a critter from the DOS-based “Commander Keen” computer game series (from too long ago!). But that has little to do with this post.
(Alas, today was not an “abstract” day.) This is, clearly, a stylized magnifying glass. With my over-40 eyes — sigh — I needed it in “tight quarters” to re-hang a bathroom cabinet that had been taken off the wall for our recent painting project. When I was finished hanging the cabinet, I set this guy in my office window. Seeing the inverted image of the house, I thought I'd do another experiment with auto-focus.
I had to go to manual focus to focus the inverted image in the magnifying glass. The camera, of course, wanted to focus on the window and the magnifying glass. You can still see the window screen in the magnified image…
