Gorgeous contrasts

leaves are sure gorgeous in the fall - they seem to fall to the ground as soon as they turn red - do you find the same thing there? I look up and the tree is still green ~ hmmm. But you can keep those spiny 'gumball' fruits they drop!

What a great title! And a striking photo, too. love the contrasting colors and textures.

@angievega Thanks, Angie! I'm just the passer-by. This was taken on a footpath between the parking lot I used this day and my office building.

@michelleyoung Exactly what I thought when I saw the image on the monitor. It had to be the day's post!

@sitiodown Yeah, once they burst with color, you better snap! Much wind at all and the shot is gone! But finding this one on the ground was fortunate. Oh, I am very, very glad we don't have one of these trees in our yard (or on either side of us!)!

@jbritt The title occurred to me without thought when I took the shot.

@digitalrn The sweet gum tree has leaves with an unmistakable shape, that's for sure!

@dandtsgal Thanks! I did, too [obviously!]!

unfortunately, we have several in our yard - they are EVERYWHERE in this neighborhood down here - it's a very wooded area ~

@masulko Nice. And your leaf stem didn't get bent backwards like mine did!

@sitiodown A former colleague now lives in the Pacific northwest and he had them. Raking the "sticker balls" out of his driveway was his bane!
