… and this is it. A kitchen chair against the new, purple kitchen color. The resolution of our miscommunication: they cut the purple by adding white and repainted this large 8'×8' wall and the rest of the floor-to-ceiling walls. We were "okay" with the darker purple on the smaller panels between the counter-top and cupboards.

Thom - I was just thinking of you this morning when I saw a Home Depot ad for paint. A couple had a lavender wall with flowers all over it - then they went to Home Depot and they both painted over their purple wall with green paint - problem solved, and they finished the room in a 30 second commercial. Glad your painting problem was finally resolved! Hope you feel better soon!
@digitalrn@sparkleplenty1 I didn't have the time to include this with the post, but Clare & I tried to make lemonade from the lemon. The painters felt badly and they worked extra hard, I think, given how flexible and "forgiving" we were. We couldn't leave the dark, dark color as it went up on the first floor-to-ceiling wall, but they stopped at that point and that's the only wall they really had to redo. So we got super-conscientious work out of them for the rest of the project and we scrambled to choose a different color for the powder room … which was supposed to be the purple room. In the end, I think the painters only had to "eat" a single unopened gallon of a creamy colored paint.
