This solitary leaf caught my eye as I was walking to my office this morning. I tried to highlight it by putting another tree’s trunk behind it. I didn’t notice this until viewing the photo, but it’s fascinating (to me) that even before the last leaf falls, there are already buds getting ready to open in the spring. (There’s even a bud on the same little branch as our “holdout” leaf.)
