Clare’s official sendoff

This is Clare with the current dean of the College and her last boss, Dafna. Together with her husband and daughter, Dafna hosted a wonderful retirement party for Clare in her home. Fifty people came with food, cards, gifts and kind words to say about Clare during her 15 years in her last position with the university.

As this unit of the university is home to the Department of Cinema and Photography, I was intimidated to take my camera. Clare’s previous boss was there and he had been a professor of photography, so I was even more reluctant to take my camera.

But shortly after being there, I realized that was a mistake and that I should just “suck it up” and get some shots for Clare (and me) at this wonderful event. Fortunately, I was gone-and-back in about 10 minutes and we have some nice photos to remember a special evening.

Don’t the drapes provide a great background? Wish I’d realized that about 3 hours earlier… But now I’ll know to look for something like that and get over my reluctance to move subjects around to get the shot I want.
