“Slip, sliding away…” by rhoing

“Slip, sliding away…”

I spent some time in the greenhouse earlier today, but I was in shutter-speed mode and the speed was set too slow for me to hold the camera sufficiently still for a sharp focus. Fortunately I can go back and shoot those plants and flowers again…

On my way to my car in the afternoon, I saw this on the north side of one of the greenhouses. I hope I adequately captured what’s going on here.

You can see a concrete ledge below the windows. You can also see where water had been dripping and freezing from above the windows down to the ledge and then an icicle hanging below the ledge … except that these aren’t vertical anymore! The ice on the ledge has started slipping and this has pushed the lower icicle “out of vertical” and the upper ridge has been pulled away from the side of the building.

After shaky images at 1/25", this is the best I had today. :-\
