A different sort of ‘guestbook’

Today one of Clare’s aunts generously hosted a wedding reception for many of the Michigan-based relatives who were not at Jenny and Steve’s wedding in Vermont in May — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2014-05-11

Each guest filled-in a leaf cutout and hung it on a twig in this jar, “Once Upon a Family: Family is the Key to our Hearts and our Happiness.”

Each cutout had lines for the guest’s name, date of birth, place of birth and relationship to the couple (Jenny, in this case). I’m thinking this could help the new member of this side of the family get his familial bearings! I certainly needed help when I married into Clare’s family: I have 2 first cousins. Yep; just two.* Clare has 40(ish)!

Great idea! I was in charge of our last family reunion (#71). This year, I had cards printed up, essentially with the same information, along with a couple of lines: what I want my family to know. The cards were added to the history books.
