Jack, 1999–2015

The light went out of his eyes a few days ago. He hasn't been eating the last couple days either, so he continues to lose weight. He hasn't climbed the stairs to our bedroom the last two or three nights and he's found a new place to sleep during the night. The unavoidable conclusion: it's time.

He's been a wonderful pet to the girls and us for more than 16 years, which is a long life, but to cling to him at this point would be selfishness on our part. So here's my last post of Jack, from his last visit to the vet's office…

Poor Jack, so sad for you Thom. I can see how thin he is.

It is always a tough decision to make but the most loving when it gets to that time. It's never easy
