I planned to spend the next week or so hiding indoors with my hideously bruised nose after yesterday's laser treatment but today I woke up and decided I didn't want to be indoors - so what if people stare? - so we visited Little Moreton Hall in nearby Cheshire.
I also revisited the dandelion field from yesterday and took more photos which you can see in the link below. I can't find a focus I'm happy with on them - there always seems to be so many blurred dandelions and I'm not convinced the colours are great either, but they are better than yesterday's photo!
This is one of my favourite buildings. Nice reflections in the water.Good photo but you could so improve it in Lightroom or similar programme. It's all there , just needs a tweak. Well taken.
@paulat10
Thanks for your input - I've never used lightroom or any other photo editing software. I'm thinking it's time I really started learning about the cameras manual settings and I was wondering if fiddling with the camera settings would have produced better images over the last few days! I will learn in time!!
This is a superb building. And I was impressed with myself as I recognised it before I read your 'description' . I think the last time i went there as with my grandparents when I was a child but its so distinctive! Your photo has inspired me to think about visiting soon.
As for editing etc, I would learn about your camera's settings first, as you say. That in itself will change your photos. Not that this isn't great anyway.
@hasselhotch
Yeah, stuff the starers!! It's a very interesting place, worth a visit - but it's small so you can do it under half a day. It's a national trust property.
@sarahdel
Thanks for yout comment. It's quite distinctive so I'm not surprised you recognised it straight away! I am booked on an 8 hour photography course in July - it was cheap and I thought it would be interesting so that will hopefully get me started, but honestly, I'm quite happy with my photo as it is because that's exactly what it looked like to the eye. It was a very gloomy day so it was dull and I take photos to record moments and memories, not to manipulate them with fancy effects and distort the colours. Recently though I do find myself frustrated when I can't reproduce what I actually see through the lens and that's what's making me want to learn properly!
This is really great - a most beautiful building - i love that reflection. I find these b&w buildings difficult to photograph - especially on a grey day and as most of them lean too! I noticed a place running photography courses in Edale today - I'm sure you'll find yours really inspiring.... and maybe addictive!!
@roachling I run courses in Cheshire if you are ever interested. Also blog about photography tips etc. www.picture-it-big.co.uk. Don't usually promote myself here so hope u don't mind.
