The end of a long week, I was tired and had lots to do so didn't touch my camera all day. I took a few photos of Ernie this evening. He was excited and couldn't keep still because Dave was about to feed him! I didn't take any any pictures I really like so this will have to do.
Our Ernie eats little pellets, like fish food, designed for turtles. We adopted him after he was abandoned by Dave's neighbour who had neglected him, mistreated him and fed him the wrong food so he's a fussy turtle and will only eat food in pellet form. In the wild (or ones from better homes in captivity) they are carnivorous and eat whatever they find - invertebrates, fish, carrion.
Wow, ernie is great. Such a change to see this breed, rather than the red eared ones that are so much more common. Looks like he is lucky to have found you. They are so difficult to keep that clean!
Thanks! We do our best for him :)
He had featured about once a month in my project and you can see him in Dave's hand here for an idea of his size...
