A whole school trip 100 miles away to the seaside today! One of our year 4 pupils, leaving this year for middle school, is from an old fashioned farming family who don't really go on holiday - he had never seen the sea before and one of the teachers has always said she'd like to do a seaside trip for him before he left. We had a few other children who had not seen the sea before so this was a great end of term treat for them all!
It was a very long day - the bus left school around 8am and got back at 6:15pm, then staff went out for a meal as our two secretaries are leaving so I didn't get home until about 11pm! It was a good day though.
We took a tram up the Great Orme in the morning which was pretty miserable in the wind and rain! The afternoon was warmer and drier and we let the children do souvenir shopping on the pier and then have a quick paddle in the sea - most of them got soaked and travelled home trouser-less! (They had each brought a towel!).I had a paddle too as I hadn't been to the coast for a few years myself - it was very cold! The children had a fantastic day and loved it!
How fab! Living on the coast makes seaside second nature. Its lovely for inland children to get to see it for the first time, what a wonderful experience for them. (Saying that, we have children in school who have never visited the seaside)!!! I love Llandudno, like Helen says its just so traditional...
What a great day, and a wonderful opportunity for those children who've never been to the sea. And a great collage too.. tells a little story of the day!
Thanks everyone! It was a lovely day, and extra special for those who hadn't set foot on a beach before! They were so well behaved - they didn't even complain on the journey (not even the youngest ones) so there weren't many cries of 'are we nearly there yet' and even better, no one was travel sick!
