There were loads of them around, but I struggled a bit to get good photos as I had to take them through a window and I need more zoom! Still, it was lovely to see them, and the many other birds I saw today.

me too, but the ones in your garden will, I expect, be house sparrows - we have loads of house sparrows in the garden too. House sparrows are a declining species but the ones in my photo, tree sparrows, have declined by something like 93% so they are pretty rare. I'd never seen one (knowingly) before today.
Have a closer look at the ones in the garden next time - house sparrows have black heads and tree sparrows have brown - and let me know!
