Today was spent cleaning out Ernie's tank. It's a big job, it takes about 7 hours. Ernie hates it, we hate it, but it has to be done, three times a year or so. After he'd stopped sulking in his cave, he came out to explore and see what had changed. We swap plants/rocks etc and change the layout each time we clean out the tank, to keep thing interesting for him. Ernie will spend tonight rearranging the 'furniture' to his own liking. It's the same every time!
If you haven't met Ernie before, he's our turtle, aged around 40. We adopted him after he had been mistreated and then abandoned and now he has lovely home with us and is well looked after. See more photos of him here:
