A night with Rik Mayall by roachling

A night with Rik Mayall

I am gutted that Rik Mayall died so suddenly and so young last week - I've loved him since I was a child and he was such a brilliant comedian.

My favourite cinema ( http://365project.org/roachling/365/2014-04-23 ) screened several of his shows in a tribute evening which I went along to tonight. https://www.thenorthernlightcinema.co.uk/index.php/home/rik-hands-up-who-likes-me

They had an 'order of service' detailing which particular series/episodes would be shown, punctuated by some memorable quotes from Rik's characters and the evening was rounded off with "Noble England"

It is indeed so sad that Rik has passed away. He made me laugh like no other, the young ones and bottom had me in tears, the end of an era for me.

He was born in Harlow?! You'd have to have a sense of humour.... Yes, a very sad loss.

I couldn't believe it when I heard he had died, end of an era and what a talent, he will be missed by many people

He was a contemporary at Uni in Manchester and I remember seeing him in a student production - he was very distinctive even then.

I didn`t know him at all, but am sorry that someone evidently so memorable, and also so young, has gone.

No one will ever be able to wear underpants like Rik did.

@suebarni haha, that made me laugh! I saw their Bottom live stage show in 2003 - the weapons grade Y fronts tour! I'm not sure anyone else can do those faces he pulled either, they were brilliant!

@tristansmum It's such a shame. He was a memorable English actor and comedian, not too everyone's taste, but a talented and funny man, especially working alongside a large group of other well known British comedians. http://www.ciaranbrown.com/mayall.html

It is such a terrible shame isn't it? What a good idea for them to do that special screening.
