Australian Wood Ducks by roachling

Australian Wood Ducks

Not a common sight here in England, as their name suggests. This pair landed at Carsington Water about a week ago and have stayed. They're not ringed so can't be identified, but it is thought they've escaped from a collection rather than flown here from down under.
What an elegant pair of birds. I bet these have got the local "birders" excited?

How interesting, don't think I've ever heard of wood ducks. Great shot Louise.

They are a lovely looking pair. I like the composition of them under the large Fan shaped bush.

Interesting for them to be so far from home. Lovely pair to spot.

They are beautiful. Could they make it through the winter there? If not, will something be done to protect them?
