I spotted a little shield bug nymph on a nettle this afternoon. It's a common green shieldbug and I think it's only a moult or two away from reaching adulthood.
Today is my birthday, Dave bought me a pile of new (and more comprehensive!) identification books for flowers, moths and insects in general - happy day :) I'm going to be an even more knowledgeable bug lady soon, hehe!
I think I just have a natural talent for bug-spotting! I spotted it out of the corner of my eye as I passed as the round shape against the leaf stood out to me. I'd taken a couple of steps further by the time my brain processed what I'd seen and told me it must be a shield bug, and then I went back to see what it was!
