Red Grouse

It was very misty on the hills today - a wet day with plenty of rain and sleet. On the hills the sleet was coming in horizontally! A bit of it settled on the highest ground (as in the background here) but nothing much. We drove over the moors to enjoy the bleakness and then visited a bookshop and had a late lunch in cafe before heading home.

@pennystot I don't think that's grouse. Not red grouse anyway - these just have dull, feathered legs. Maybe you're thinking of red legged partridges? I'm not sure!

Lot of mist there, Louise. The grouse is not spooked by the mist nor the photographer! Whenever I try to get this type of shot, they're gone before I can raise the camera let alone look through the viewfinder and shoot ...
