Little Egret by roachling

Little Egret

This was an unexpected sight today - a little egret in a field. I've never seen one before, they're not common here, more common in the south of England I believe. Annoyingly I'd only got the dslr with the standard lens. Really wish I'd taken the other lens or my bridge camera with plenty of zoom. This was about the best I could do with the camera I had before the bird flew away!
Well spotted though, don't think I've ever seen one of these before.

Great find, shame about the camera, it always like that when you discover something special. Still a nice shot though.
They are fairly easy to go and find these days, but I think it is a bit unusual to find one so far inland. I am thinking maybe the high winds of the last couple of days might have blown him inland.

@markp That's what we thought too. It had a ring on its leg but couldn't see it at this distance of course!

Nice find, Egrets seem good at being just beyond the reach of my lens when ever I come across them!
